Our roots run deep
Rooted in reverence. Created with care. Offered in devotion.
Welcome to Fertile Ground Apothecary, where each herbal remedy is a prayer, a remembrance, and a reclamation. Founded by me, Anna Fox—community herbalist, birthkeeper, educator, mother, and medicine maker—this apothecary was born from a desire to live in harmony with and honor Earth and support others in doing the same.
I currently live in the foothills of Western Maine with my partner, son, and two dogs. My path is shaped by motherhood, land-based living, and a deep trust in the innate intelligence of our body and the plants.
Each offering is crafted by hand and heart: grown, wildcrafted, or ethically sourced with the utmost intention. Whether you are seeking nourishment for your body, support in your fertility or postpartum journey, or simply a moment of ritual in your daily life—these plant allies are here for you.
At Fertile Ground, we honor:
The wisdom of the Earth and the cycles of life, death, and rebirth.
Your sovereignty in how you choose to live, birth, heal, and parent.
Slowness, softness, and strength, as essential medicines in a hurried world.
Community and connection, because we are not meant to do this alone.
You’ll find more than products here—you’ll find a return to your inner knowing. This is herbalism rooted in relationship. An invitation to remember who you are and what it means to belong to the land, to your body, and to the lineage of wise ancestors who came before you.
Honoring the Lineage
This work is not mine alone. It is rooted in the wisdom, courage, and love of all those who have come before me and those yet to come.
I offer deep gratitude and reverence to the plant witches, herbalists, midwives, healers, wise women, and teachers across time and place who kept these ways alive—often quietly, and in defiance. To the ancestors who gathered, brewed, chanted, anointed, birthed, and healed with the plants, I thank you. Your devotion is the ground I walk on.
I give special thanks to Mary Blue, my herbal mentor and dear friend. Thank you for sharing your fierce love of the plants, your honesty, your humor, and your unwavering commitment to community care. Your mentorship changed my life, and I am forever grateful.
With profound gratitude to Whapio, my midwifery teacher, whose wisdom of physiologic birth, deep listening, and the sacredness of the journey continues to ripple through my work. Thank you for trusting the mystery, for teaching me to see birth as transformation, and for holding the space for each of us to remember the quantum connection of all.
May the work I do honor these lineages.
May it serve the healing of people, land, and spirit.
May it always carry gratitude in its roots.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening. Thank you for remembering.
With love from the fertile ground,
Anna
